What's New - SUNDAY?

Hello, family!

I'm here off and on lately because of our phone service.  You see, we live in the country and our phone lines are all buried under the road and under our very long concrete driveway. These cables are over 35 years old and are deteriorating.   It is not uncommon for us to lose phone service here because of the weather.  Right now, we have experienced serious cold and heavy rain & flooding.  The water gets into the cracks of the insulation on the cables and POOF!! there goes our phone service! We have been without phone service AGAIN for 3-4 days at a time..that five times this winter!   Add to that, two weekends in a row, our server went down.  And that is why I havent been posting regularly.

I hope that everyone enjoyed the weekend so far.  For me, Saturday was a simply lazy day...reading & crocheting, that's all. Oh yes, and watching old movies with JB.  I crochet while watching TV, it keeps my hands busy and seems to help fight cravings to nibble.  Of course, LilyRose helps by unravelling the yarn and straightening the yarn as I crochet.  Katie watches with disdain and sits with her back turned to us...her nose is still out of joint with us for bringing in another cat.

I plan to make better use of Sunday - I have artwork to do for Monday.

Well, I have one more thing to do, then I'm off to bed...carry on! *s*

Hello rom one Nancy to another and to Everybody

It is cold here tonight. It's just 0. Nit too bad for Minnesota in Feb. I guess. Can sleep again tonight. I have slept much since I quit smoking. So far so good---45 days and still going strong. It is can of fun to say I haven't smoked for the year! My son's quit present showed up last Friday and i am sure enjoying that 60 inch TV.:ast week I had that crappy stomach flu. I have never experienced a flu so hard. I am still dealing with a little of it. Over a week.
I felt so bad I almost thought about canceling my WLS surgery. I felt I didn't want to feel that bad on purprose. I am still sitting on the edge. God, I was sick. I am going to get the band and I can't imagine what I would of felt like if I had had the lap band and gotten so sick. Oh well I will try and get through this.
Well, I hope everebody had a great Valentine's Day. I hope you have great Sunday too

Nancy, Congratulations on your not smoking for all of 2009! That is a BIG deal! Also, anxiety is natural leading up to any life change whether it is our choice or not. Keep your eye on the prize at the end. It is so worth it. My life 4 years ago was hardly worth living. Now  I live life fully and experience things instead of wistfully wishing I could do this or that. Take care.

Good morning Nancy,

You probably just went to bed and here I am up for about the 3rd time tonight. We had a Valentine's Party here last night with us and 5 other couples. It was a lot of fun. I cooked the day before, we cleaned early in the morning and then relaxed until guest arrived. I made frozen strawberry margaritas very light on the hard stuff, lasagna, paprika chicken, salad, and for dessert a cherry/cream cheese filled angel food cake.

Friends brought fresh flowers, wine and lots of good friendship. I am blessed. We laughed, shared news, talked about old times, listened to 60's music. Most of us turn 60 within the next few months and have known each other for many years. Some of us went to grade school together and most high school. Three of the couples went on the Inside Passage cruise with us a few years ago.

Nothing much on the agenda for today. Our hot tub is up and running and should be just about ready for me to slip into in a few hours. Can't wait! You all have a nice day.

Good morning Nancy, Nancy and Karen.

I can relate to the bad phone lines.  We lived out in the country for 23 years with all lines underground.  Also, down a 'driveway' that was 1/2 mile long.  Only dial-up available when we did get the internet.  I am SOOO happy to be back to civilization!

No smoking for 2009!!  What a wonderful accomplishment!  And what a great gift from your son!  Hang in there!  YOU know WLS is what you need/want.  A few second thoughts are natural, but  yes keep your eye on the prize.

Karen, nothing like 60's music!!  And getting together with old friends!

Yesterday I made a HUGE pot of chili.  One of the things my DH was requesting after so long on liquids.  It was SOOO good.  Very few beans for what I set aside for he and I, lots of beans in the rest for my son and his family.  Also, had salads.  He has to keep his pre-op weight off before his next operation!  Today, everyone has requested a big fresh fruit salad, stirred up with some yummy ff vanilla yogurt.  MMMM good!

Momma will be calling soon.  Her regular Sunday morning phone call.  Her health is not doing well.  I think a lot of it is depression (so does her PCP, but Mom doesn't).  She starts feeling down, the PCP is ordering all kinds of tests, she gets more 'jangly', her blood pressure goes higher, and it is a vicious circle.  I'm going down there this week, but I can only spend a week!  I wish she would agree to move here!  Stubborn woman!  I love and worry about her so much!

Everyone have a fantabulous day!

Good Sunday Morning Nancy & my OFF friends,

I hope you all had a wonderful Valentines Day.  Earl & I went to a show and late lunch/early dinner,  then home to relax.  Today Cheyanne sings at church so I am getting ready to go listen to my sweet little granddaughter sing her part.  She loves to sing! They are singing "My God is an Awesome God" and that sums it up for me.

Lots of appts this week for Earl, physical therapy 2 days, labs, Doc at the VA  and then his PCP.  Add in the girls school and misc goings on and my time will be scarce this week.  Seems to be my life now days.  I have to have my labs done this week too. I see the endocrinologist  in the 26th about this Thyroid Nodule gain.  I am feeling it more and having more trouble swallowing and finding a sleeping position where I don't feel like my throat is closing...... I had an ultrasound in August and a biopsy and she wanted to wait awhile before deciding to do anything about it.   Since it is bothering me more I'm thinking I need to push her on the issue now.

Well off to get ready, hugs to you all. Paulette

Good Morning, All!

The sun is shining here!  A great way to start the day!

Actually, the phone rang a few minutes ago, as I was lying awake in bed, chatting with the kitties and sort-of planning my day.  (I do that on the weekends....practicing for retirement,  I tell myself.  It's really just being lazy...).  The call was from work, unexpected voluntary overtime 4pm-12am this evening, did I want it?  Yup!  I love the extra cash, and even though I have to be back tomorrow at 8 am, I can do the double bac****asionally.  Usually I'm committed to at least 7 hours of sleep a night, but I can make do with less one night.

It's odd.  I read so many of your posts about not being able to sleep.  I had a problem before WLS, but now that I don't have to get up to pee twice a night, I sleep like a baby.  Only once in a LONG while do I have a problem, and that's something I can live with.  I really feel for those of you who sleep poorly.  It's tough to be up and functional during the day when you're sleep deprived.

Anyhow, it's good that I didn't really get any plans made.  I'm going to do a few errands in the village today, laundry, and straighten up the kitchen.  I have a good book and will read a little, and take it to work, as there's not much to do on a Sunday evening.

I went to see the "Benjamin Button" film last evening.  I really enjoyed it, and of course, now I have the find the F. Scott Fitzgerald story it's based upon.  Mostly, I loved watching Brad Pitt do his thing.  I know I'm getting old, but I'm not dead, and he gets me all mushy inside.  He is hot, and I think I remember hot.

Yup, I think I do...  And not just in flashes.....

Have a great day.

Candy

I really liked Benjamin Button too, but it left me feeling really "jangly" around the edges. Retracing my life, missed opportunities, (not having the courage to take the initiative when I was much younger), so afraid of making a mistake others made my choices for me. Kind of left me feeling like I did after watching ET. Sad he was sick, sad he had to go home if he wanted to live. . . . How can getting younger instead of older be a sad thing? But it was, but what a love story. Ah yes, Brad makes me twitter, but I still think he may regret Angie in the end. I think she's a bit of a basket case. . . JMHO!!!
